I will review the current status of gravitational microlensing, and then discuss microlensing results on the search of extrasolar planets, stellar-mass black holes and MAssive Compact Halo Objects (MACHOs).
Shude Mao is a professor of astrophysics and Chair of the Department of Astronomy at Tsinghua University. He obtained his PhD at Princeton University in 1992, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and then at the Max-Planck Institute for astrophysics from 1992-1999. He was a faculty member at the University of Manchester (UK) in from 2000-2010. He returned to China at the end of 2010. His current research interests are on the search for extrasolar planets, gravitational lensing and stellar dynamics.
