The Time-Dependent Hartree-Fock theory, with Skyrme-type effective interactions and without any symmetry restrictions is able to provide a mean-field view of a variety of dynamical process in nuclei, including collective excitations of single nuclei, fission, and a variety of low-energy reactions such as fusion and quasifission.  As well as describing physical processes, the technique is also a test of effective interactions.  This talk will present a selection of results across resonance states, giant and not-so-giant, fission and fusion reactions, to understand the dynamics of the processes and to highlight the extent to which one is able to systematically study the effect of varying assumptions in the nuclear interaction in the calculated properties of observables.  This will highlight, for example, the link between nuclear interaction, radii, and fusion cross section.  Some perspectives on what is missing in the mean-field approach will be presented.
