Biographical Sketch:
Zhiwen Shi received his physics Ph.D. from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2012. He worked in University of California, Berkeley as a postdoctoral research fellow from 2012 to 2016. He joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a faculty member in 2016.
He was awarded the Director’s Fellowship of the Institute of Physics, the CAS President Awards for excellent research in 2011, the Outstanding Graduate of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai Eastern Scholar in 2016, and the “Thousand Young Talents” award in 2017.
His scientific interests lie in the light-matter interaction in condensed matter physics, with an emphasis on novel physical phenomena emerging in nanoscale structures and low dimensional materials, such as graphene, graphene nanoribbon, carbon nanotube, atomically thin hexagonal boron nitride, etc.
