Colloquium :RPES Study on High-Temperature Superconductors and Topological Insulators (Prof. Xingjiang Zhou, Oct 29)

Colloquium

Title: RPES Study on High-Temperature Superconductors and Topological Insulators

Speaker:  Xingjiang Zhou , National Lab for Superconductivity, Institute of Physics CAS

Location: Room 111, Physics Building

Time: 15:00-16:00, Wed, Oct 29, 2014

Abstract:

The mechanism of high temperature superconductivity in the copper-based and iron-based superconductors is a prominent and challenging issue in condensed matter physics. Angle-Resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), as a powerful technique to directly probe the electronic structure of materials, has played a key role in studying high temperature superconductors.  In this talk, after briefly introducing the latest development of photoemission techniques, I will highlight some of our recent results in utilizing the state-of-the-art ARPES to study the copper-based [1,2] and iron-based [3,4,5] high temperature superconductors, as well as topological insulators [6,7].
