The focus of this talk will be on the high-spin spectroscopy of heavy neutron-rich nuclei with 94<Z<98, studied via inelastic and transfer reactions, using heavy stable beams, radioactive targets and the Gammasphere array. These complement Z>100 nuclei studied via fusion reactions, and probe the highest neutron orbitals accessible to spectroscopy, where the deformed valence orbitals can originate from above spherical superheavy shell gaps.
